What kinds of files do you accept?
We accept the following file types:
PDF, TIF, EPS, JPEG (color conversion fees may apply for jpeg files)
THE FOLLOWING ARE ACCEPTABLE APPLICATIONS
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe PhotoShop
Corel Draw, Macromedia Freehand, Microsoft PowerPoint,
Microsoft Publisher (Windows Only), PDF/Acrobat, QuarkXPress
Which File Transfer method should I use?
If you have a large file (100 megs or larger) and do not wish to upload it, you may burn it to a cd (labeled with order#) and mail it to the address listed below:
Will my printed copy look the same as it does on my monitor or my printer?
NO, colors can vary somewhat for many reasons, here are two:
CMYK vs RGB – The images you see on your monitor are displayed in RGB (Red, Green, Blue). Your order will be printed using CMYK inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black). CMYK images are the truest colors and provide a beautiful result. The colors will look rich and the images sharp – but if you hold them up to the images on your monitor, there will be some color variance.
Bleed Requirements: 1/8" is required.
Color Setup:
All files submiited need to be CMYK. If you submit an RGB file we will convert your RGB file to CMYK for an additional charge.
Resolution:
All files submitted for printing and design elements need to be 300 DPI at the final print size.
Calibration – Wide differences in monitor and printer calibration make it impossible to match colors precisely.
Reading Your Proof:
To thoroughly evaluate your proof and catch all potential errors, it is helpful to follow some simple guidelines. Use these steps to make sure your job is exactly as you want it to be prior to printing: Please view your proof at 100%.
Is the size correct – are the dimensions consistent with your original layout?
Check every photo to be sure it is positioned, scaled and cropped correctly.
Check all type to make sure nothing has reflowed or been cut off.
Check to make sure all corrections have been made from previous proofs.
Are all folds or scores correctly indicated?
Re-examine headlines and other display type for typos and placement
How critical is the color matching? If you are worried about the colors, please order a hard-copy proof*. (there will be a minimum fee of $49.00 for a hard copy).
PDF And Hard Copy Proofs
With every order placed will receive a free Adobe Acrobat PDF proof via e-mail. You must be aware that the proof you see on your monitor will be in RGB mode and that the color will appear slightly different on the final piece, which is printed in CMYK.
PDF proofs are the most economical way to proof your job. They can also be sent via e-mail therefore they reduce the time it takes to approve your job. PDF proofs are for viewing on your monitor and show positioning and content only, they are not for color. This PDF proof will be in CMYK color mode. Your CMYK PDF proof will be displayed on your RGB monitor. It is important to note that even if your monitor is calibrated your colors will appear slightly different on your monitor, which is RGB, than on the final printed piece, which will be CMYK.
Armen Enterprises LLC only guarantees pleasing colors when this proof is approved. If you have a job that is color critical you will need to purchase a Hard Copy Proof.
As stated before, if you need to see a more accurate example of your job, please use an Integris hard copy proof. The Integris hard copy proof will allow you to view the colors in the most accurate way possible. This proof will be sent by UPS Overnight Letter and carries an additional charge of $49.00* on most products. This price includes the proof and the cost to Next Day Air it to you.
(*Note that the price above reflects the charge of a proof that is 11 x 17 or smaller. Additional proofs will carry an additional charge of $17.00 per 11 x 17 sheet, per job).
